We wanted to put together a quick update on the progress of Palette 3, and the timing for the beginning of delivery for the first batch of units.
Below is our projected schedule for the remainder of the month, covering the key milestones and dates that we’re pushing to hit to get your P3 units to you on the new (September) timeline:
September 14-20: Units begin shipping from overseas to US and EU Warehouses
September 15-25: In transit (air shipping) and customs clearance
September 25-Oct 1: Fulfillment center shipping and delivery
As of today, (September 9, 2021) we’re on track to ship the units within the September 14th-20th time frame. There is still some risk over the next couple of weeks that we hit this deadline; however, our assembly and quality control processes are moving along extremely well and based on the information we have available today, we believe that a ship date of September 14th-20th is achievable.
Once the units leave the factory, the air freight shipping should be reasonably straightforward. That said, freight is still highly volatile right now due to Covid-19 impacts and the ongoing container shortages.
The biggest risk at that point will be any potential hiccups or delays with customs or shipping. We’re proactively taking steps to mitigate risks here by working with customs brokers that we’ve used to clear shipments in the past, pre-booking shipment slots, as well as working with established air freight providers that we have completed our past shipments with.
For those individuals who chose the November shipping option, we are on track to get these units out to you on time as well. They will be shipping via ocean freight, leaving around the end of September.
Ocean freight typically takes 30-45 days to arrive, which puts them in our US and EU fulfillment centers in early to mid November. From there, they will be dispatched to you, with our goal of having them arrive before the end of November.
Through this production run of Palette 3, we’ve seen an incredibly high production yield. This is a key marker of both the quality of the design, as well as the quality of the manufacturing and assembly processes.
We have enforced stricter QA processes on the line and have doubled down on the precision of our testing equipment to ensure consistently high quality.
We’ll be publishing and distributing a number of onboarding resources as we get close to the arrival date of the first units. The final touches on these documents are being put in place now, and we will share them in the coming weeks.
P3 has a beautiful and intuitive onboarding flow built into the onboard screen. This seamless flow will help you get set up, will update all software, and will get you to your first print faster than ever before.
We’ll put together another email once we’re loading the air shipment units onto the plane, and you’ll hear from us again once they’ve landed at our fulfillment centers. If there are any notable timeline changes (more than 2 weeks in any direction) we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we know.
