Multi-Material Printing, Let's Explore

Multi-Material Printing, Let's Explore

We've started to explore the composite (multi-material) potential of SEEM Technology. We've been asked time and time again about flexible materials, dissolvable materials, infused materials (lay-wood, stainless steel, bronzefill, copperfill), now it's time to open Pandora's box.

We believe composite 3D printing will open up an entirely new range of possibilities for the 3D printing community. When you think about the potential of designing parts with bends, joints and seals (flexible), dissolvable support (PVA), stronger internal skeletons (carbon fiber), conductive pathways/circuits (ProtoPasta Conductive/F-Electric), and visually appealing parts (stainless steel infused) you multiply the potential utility of 3D printing technology.

This blog post is the start of the exploration of composite desktop 3D printing, and we’d love for you to start right along with us.

Now on to the fun stuff.

We have seen very promising results from the following pairs (so far):

  • PLA + PVA (dissolvable)
  • PLA + EcoFlex
  • PLA + Conductive
  • PLA + Stainless Steel

We know there are so many incredibly creative, inventive, genius people in the 3D printing community. We know that the minds of the thousands of people on this journey with us will be able to give composite 3D printing an amazing base to start with.

With this in mind, we created a place to facilitate the discussion of composite 3D printing ideas. You can check out the post here. You can also comment underneath if you have any ideas you'd like to share!

We’re going to be focusing heavily on figuring out exactly how far this rabbit hole goes and we’d love to have you play a part.
